Month: February 2013

Over, Under is out now!

I seem to be making a habit of this late night website update routine. What’s more, I always seem to have either Third Rock From The Sun or Fast Show playing in the background. Oh well. I can think of worse things to be doing at midnight!

So. What’s been happening?

Well. A lot, now that you mention it!

Firstly, “Over, Under” was successfully released on Monday 18th, and the launch night on Friday 22nd in York went swimmingly. Thank you to everyone who came down to show support. I had a great night, and I hope you all did, too. I also just found out that the vinyl was in the top 100 best selling vinyls on Bandcamp this week!

Let’s see if we can climb the bandcamp charts!

Unfortunately, the video for the song had to be delayed slightly, so the release was slightly out of sync, but it will be ready soon. I can’t wait to share it with you!

Last week I ran a studio production and arrangement workshop at Leeds College of Music. It was a great experience, and quite a validating one at that. It was really nice to be asked to return to the place at which I studied as a professional. I think I said this last time, but wow. The facilities at that place just keep on improving!

It is now 1.14am, so I should probably get some sleep before hitting the studio again in the morning, but I shall check back in again very soon. Hopefully with a brand spanking new video for you!

Over and out…

Exhaustion at 3am…

It is 2.39am (according to my computer) and I’m considering this a relatively early night. I’ve been back in England for three weeks, and right now I’m reviewing what I’ve achieved so far. All of a sudden I am experiencing a feeling of utter exhaustion.

I have had a few projects running in parallel lately, and it has been quite a challenge to juggle them all. Upon landing in London on 17th January I went straight into rehearsals with the wonderful Lucy Claire. It was imperative that we got straight to rehearsing because of the imminent show at SHHH Festival on 2nd February.

Soon afterwards I stayed with my friend and photographer, eYe $eE y@ for a weekend of networking, web design and promo photography…

After that I travelled north to start rehearsals with guitarist Jonny, and to scout out the location for The “Over, Under” video shoot. You have probably seen the pictures before, but we found a gateway to Narnia!

I worked with co-director and director of photography – David Diley (of Scarlet View Media, and production designer Stephanie Ward to shoot the video, post blizzard, on January 25th.

And so, after a strew of quick fire activities, I performed my first show of 2013 at SHHH… and I have to say that I’ve never enjoyed playing live as much as I did that day! I’d like to thank everyone who came to the show. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Since then I have been busy doing the rough edit of the video (which has been a really fun experience and learning curve), after which David Diley will neaten, colour and grade it. I can’t wait to share the results with you all when the EP is released.

In amongst the madness, I have been asked to give a composition and production workshop for MA students at Leeds College of Music. I feel utterly honoured to be asked, and am very much looking forward to sharing my experiences and knowledge, and also to learn more!

Finally, I have to make sure that all (well, most) of this comes together for the release of “Over, Under” on February 18th, and the subsequent launch show on February 22nd at The Duchess in York. If you haven’t already got tickets or pre-ordered a vinyl, you can do so by clicking on the image below…

I just noticed that my computer’s clock struck 3.33am. I should really get some sleep!

Until next time…
